Max Gimblett, the Caselberg Trust and the Dunedin Public Art Gallery
In March (2015) Max Gimblett, the renowned New York based NZ artist, attended a Caselberg Trust and the Nadene Gallery Fundraising Gala dinner held at the Amisfield. Winery & Bistro in Arrowtown. At this event Max announced that he and his wife Dr Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett were gifting twelve original ink drawings to the Caselberg Trust. An extremely generous gift of which the Caselberg Trust is most grateful and appreciative of. In April that year Denise Copland, one of the Trust’s committee members, visited Max at his New York studio. She along with Max and his studio assistant choose the twelve impressive coloured ink drawings on watercolour paper.
The Caselberg Trust have now entered into a Long term Loan agreement with the Dunedin Public Art Gallery with these twelve impressive works on paper. These works are currently on exhibition at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery courtesy of the Caselberg Trust by gift from Max Gimblett and Dr Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett.
