The ‘Charles Brasch Studio’ Building Project – Can you help?
As a premier NZ residence for artists, writers and musicians, the Caselberg House in Broad Bay, Dunedin offers the accommodation, but, as yet, has yet no studio space for visual artists. Artists in the past have on occasions very graciously made do with the kitchen table.
The Trust is very conscious that we need to provide a studio that will better serve our residencies and provide the much needed workspace for sculptors, printmakers and painters.
Our plan is to provide a small, simple building in the grounds of the house that will meet these needs. It is to be a single room studio that will provide workspace, storage, sinks, and a wall for exhibition space. The Trust’s intention is that the The Charles Brasch Studio will double for artists’ talks, workshops, poetry readings etc as well as small exhibitions that would both benefit the artist and the community.
Having a dedicated space in such an inspirational location as Broad Bay would enable the Caselberg Trust to further extend its unique residency programme and be able to offer artists the means to work much more effectively than they have been able to in the past.
The Trust feels it is time to step up to the next level. It is for this reason that we are asking if you can help us? We are three quarters of the way there, with the build hopefully beginning in February. We would be most grateful for any donation you, as a supporter can make. These can be made to the Trust by emailing info@caselbergtrust.org, or by direct credit into our bank account, accompanied by filling out the form on our support page http://www.caselbergtrust.org/donating-to-the-caselberg-trust
Remember all donations are tax deductible and will allow us to progress this exciting project.
